Donald’s Obituary

Donald R.L. Bay, 78, of Mountain View, Missouri was called home Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Mountain View Healthcare.  He was born March 2, 1941 in Howell County to Robert Lloyd and Bessie (Judd) Bay.  On June 26, 1960 before a congregation of 800, Don and Shirley Faye Williams were united in marriage as the Mountain View Centennial Bride and Groom.  There were five children born to this union.

He was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Violet Glenn and Daisy Trowbridge; and one child, Sherry Bay.

Left behind to mourn him are his beloved wife, Shirley of 59 years; four children, Randy Bay and wife, Michele, Terry Bay and wife, Kimberly, Jason Bay, and Heather Bay all of Mountain View; three sisters, Bobbie Jo and husband, Clifford, Kate and husband, Bill, and Faye; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He leaves behind too many loving friends to mention.

Don made his living while working in the lumber and charcoal industry. He also owned a car lot and garage in Mountain View.  He loved his lord and was of Pentecostal faith.   He had a mechanical mind and enjoyed building engines for pulling trucks and stock cars.  Despite having only an eighth-grade education, Don was very intelligent.  He loved to read literature involving mechanics or firearms.  If you took a glance at his magazines, you’d see his many underlined pages and you better be sure to put them back where you found them.  Don spent many hours in the woods and was sure to pass his passion for hunting down to his children. He spent his best weekends, surrounded by his family at the truck pulls or chainsaw competitions.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM in Yarber Mortuary chapel, Mountain View, Missouri.  Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 6-8:00 PM also at the chapel.  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
